Heritage week in Carlingford begins on the 28th August 2010 featuring 6 people going to live in Taffe's Castle in primitive form. This event will create much interest meaning Carlingford will be packed in the coming week. It is great to see so much interest in thia event and I will be there from Monday. Report: Cooley Environmental & Health Group Meeting
An interesting and exciting meeting took place on Sunday 23rd May 2010 in the Strand Hotel Omeath being the last meeting before the summer with the Group being in recess until 12th September 2010.
The 2011 workshop occupied most of the agenda with a good discussion on the format for the workshop which will include many speakers from varies walks and levels of; life.
words mentions included: dieticians, exercise, life style choices, changing life style roles, the changing role of women, men and the family, sports club participation, modes of transport, health consequences, economic consequences, fitness & retirement, obesity and Alcohol, issues of facilities’ for exercise and obesity and disability.
o The group are to individually undertake further research for finalization at the next meeting.
Other issues of social concern were discussed and to be researched for the next meeting on Sunday 12th September 2010 @ 10 AM in The Strand Hotel Omeath.

Report on CEHG Meeting in Strand Hotel Sunday 11th April 2010
WORKSHOP 29th January 2011 on OBESITY to be held in Strand Hotel Omeath.
A general discussion asked the following questions:
1. Obesity (can we afford it? Health costs?)
2. People less physically today than in bye gone years.
3. Lack of facilities in housing areas for participating in physical exercises.
4. A changing family structure.
5. Time constraints for exercise and daily routines.
6. What imitative currently exists?
7. What affect has shopping, grow your own food and so on?
The workshop will address the following questions:
What is meant by the term Obesity? Is it a problem in our society? If so why?
How has it become problem?
A problem for whom in society and can we as a society afford it with the associated problems?
If Obesity has became a problem what can we do to address it?
In respect of Broadband: our Secretary is to write to eircom about getting new lines installed in The Peninsula to take speeds in access of 3 megabytes per second. At present we have speeds around .88 to .89 megabytes per second.
AS well CEHG are to write to Louth County Council regarding poor water pressure in Greenore as well as raw sewage going into the seas at Omeath and Greenore.
